...OK, my secret is out! 

I'M SO EXCITED as I'm raising money for the Breast Cancer Network Australia by trekking to Machu Picchu in Peru, in May 2015, with 19 other breast cancer survivors, on the "Pink Peru Challenge"! WOOHOO!

For me, this is the most incredible experience and symbolic of the challenging journey it has been over the   last 8 years since being diagnosed with insidious breast cancer!! I survived surgery, chemotherapy (just!), radiotherapy, chronic fatigue, severe depression (that sadly, almost got me but gladly, it didn't!), memory loss and I lost "ME" for far too long. My family, especially my 4 beautiful children and my scrumptious husband, lost me too and sadly, we can't get those years back but WE CAN enjoy a wonderful future together.

This challenge brings me to the ultimate pinnacle of my journey because I HAVE climbed out of that dreaded "dark pit of depression", I have changed my direction in life from being a Professional Photographer of 25 years, by going back to study. I am about to complete my Nursing studies, so that I can go out and help as many people as I can with my renewed optimism and pure LOVE of life and the simplicities that one day at a time can bring.

I have also locked in a book deal with the most inspirational Book Publishing company-Balboa Press of HAY HOUSE Publishing, to publish my Coffee table 'Book of Hope' filled with photographic images and breast cancer stories taken over the last 8 years, to inspire hope and inspiration into all new & post diagnosed cancer sufferers. Watch out girls on the trek, as my camera will be out to to document this challenge and you may be featuring in my International Book of Hope too!! 

The Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) has helped me from the very beginning of this journey and with the funds raised, I personally know that these go towards instant assistance with "My Journey" kits to all newly diagnosed victims. The frequent "The Beacon" newsletter has also been a helping hand, especially in the knowledge that I HAVE NEVER BEEN ALONE IN THIS WRETCHED journey!
