Pink Peru Challenge 2015
Story
Hello all, I decided to change my photo for one in the mountains of Victoria, Mt Hotham over this summer. I only have a few months more of active fundraising so anyone who wants to add to the amount please do so. I am doing training weekly, doing more frequent walks, not necessarily long ones! I think it'll do me the best in general fitness. Thanks to all who have assisted me in my efforts/
Well I launched this page about 4 months ago and am thrilled to say that my initial target has already been reached! I will have a few small fundraisers in the new year, to raise a bit more but also to thank people for giving. More on that to individuals later. Our trek leaves at the end of May of next year, so its getting nearer & more exciting, more real. Thanks to all your donations so far, we'll see how much more we raise together in the next four months. Thanks all!
I am raising money for Breast Cancer Network Australia by trekking to Machu Picchu on the Pink Peru Challenge!. I first had cancer treatment over 10 years ago. A fellow work colleague is currently undergoing treatment and I have had a sister & several other friends who have also undergone treatment. It Is for all of us that I wish to undertake this adventure.
Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) works to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs. I particularly love the advocacy work that BCNA does, it is good to know we have a strong voice to make our needs heard. While first undergoing treatment I attended forums and came away more informed, stronger for having been. The booklets and newsletters are a constant resource for all of us who require them.
On a purely personal note, when I was first diagnosed with cancer I thought "But I wanted to climb a few more mountains!" I'd also always wanted to go to the South American continent but had never achieved it.
Recently I had been thinking "I may well never go to South America" And then along came the Pink Peru Challenge & I thought "Why NOT?!"
I am lucky enough to be in a position to be able to give something back to a group that helped me. My minimum fundraising aim is $4000, I'll see how I go as to extra fundraising!
How your donation helps
